New Year, New Construction

New year, new build? If you are starting a new construction project in 2020, we here at Mangano Plumbing Sewer & Drain have some plumbing tips to ensure your new property has functional plumbing. We like to work smarter, not harder; and, we are happy to share our knowledge on how to do so with you!

Here are the most important factors to remember when building a new home or a new commercial building.

Plumbing Tips For New Construction

Install Your Water Heater In Your Basement Or On Your Main Floor

It’s best to keep your water heater tucked away; yet, accessible. This means placing this appliance either in your planned basement or on your main floor, in a utility closet. Your water heater will be out of sight, out of mind most of the year! Yet, when its time for professional maintenance, it will be readily available to work on.

Make Sure Your Main Shut-Off Valve Is Accessible

When a plumbing emergency ensues, such as a leaky pipe or a clog in your main sewer line, you will need to be able to get to your main shut-off valve ASAP. If you don’t know where it is, or it is not in reach, you can have a major flood on your hands.

Have Your Sump Pump Discharge Away From Your Property

Sump pumps are responsible for moving excess water away from your property. It is imperative to prevent floods and water damage from occurring in your new building.

Make sure your sump pump connects to your storm sewer and that your sump pumps’ discharge pipe directs water away from your home or commercial building for safe drainage.

Divert Your Wastewater

Water conservation is trending! And it is time we all get on board. If you are building a residential home, you can use the water from your laundry cycles or baths to water your lawn. This is not only environmentally conscious, but it will also save you some money on your monthly water bills! Simply have a professional plumber set up your plumbing lines to channel your wastewater into your irrigation system instead of your main sewer line.
